We're aware of unemployment insurance scams being reported in other states. While there are no reports of this activity in Virginia, we want to remind everyone to stay vigilant.
VEC will NEVER make an unsolicited call telling you that you have unclaimed unemployment funds and request your personal information over the phone.
If you receive a suspicious call:
- Hang up.
- Don't share personal information.
- Verify communications through the official VEC website or published VEC phone numbers.
